Review

What the reviewers have been saying about our Atherton Bikes in 2025...

29 June 2025

Of course we think our bikes are the best ride ever… but don’t take our word for it… Four top reviewers from three of the top bike publications from the UK, Germany and France seem to agree. A taster here focusing on the most recent reviews for the S.150, S.200 or check out the originals for some more in-depth feedback.

S.150 - Wide Open Magazine

Jan 2025 Pete Scullion Wideopen rides the S150.2

“ The harder you ride, the happier it gets "

It’s far from heavy for an alloy bike, so getting it to the top of the first descent was a run-of-the-mill affair; the S.150 quietly went about putting my power into forward momentum with little fuss.

The Size 5 of 12 fit me a treat, and I could slam the dropper to the top of the post for maximum descending confidence. Once at the top of the hill, the S.150 continued its fuss-free attitude, being both planted and engaging, happy to plough or pop depending on preferences. One thing that it carries over from its bigger brother, the A.150, is that the harder you ride, the happier it gets. That’s not to say it isn’t fun to cruise, but if you’ve an inkling to push on, the S.150 has well and truly got you covered. First impressions are very promising indeed. The Atherton S.150 retains the high tempo DNA of its more expensive counterparts, without removing any of the ability to charge hard on proper terrain.

S.150 - Bike Comparison

April 2025 Enduro Mag Trail bike comparison test : S.150 “Best Buy”

“The guys from Enduro mag put 16 of this year’s hottest trail bikes through their paces, resulting in the coveted Best Buy award. Simon Kohler summed it up like this…

The Atherton S.150 delivers outrageously good trail performance and, with its unique look, offers plenty of small-talk potential at the trailhead. The Atherton S.150 once again delivers a performance that puts it in a class of its own.

Despite its heavy system weight, it climbs efficiently, even if it’s not the liveliest climber in the test. When gravity takes over, the S.150 impresses with unmatched composure and confidence-inspiring handling, while still maintaining a surprising level of agility. The exceptionally capable suspension keeps the bike planted to the ground, providing endless grip without sacrificing support. Retailing at € 7,200, the S.150 is also one of the most affordable bikes in this test – a well-deserved Best Buy!”

S.150: Adrein Protaeno , Vojo Magazine rode the S.150 in Massa Marittima, Italy.

“One word: confident”

“The Climb… The 16.2 kg Atherton S.150 may seem daunting at first glance, but in action. Is a different story. Once you've found your rhythm, the S.150 allows you to pedal for a long time and is in an effective position for climbing. The suspension remains fairly neutral, doesn't pump excessively, even when standing on the pedals. In short, we didn't hesitate to climb back up again at the end of the day to do one last special, and we can easily imagine long days in the saddle. Descent …But it's on the descent that the magic happens! One word: confident. The Atherton S150 is a bike that puts its rider in a perfect position to tackle challenges with serenity.

A few laps in, we switch from one turn to another with ease, we throw the bike and pull bunny-hops over obstacles to play with the terrain, it's a real pleasure. When things get tough, you keep the wheels on the ground more, pushing on the bike to maximise grip, and the S.150 delivers admirably. Atherton has created a surprisingly versatile bike, which manages to combine an assertive character with ease of handling. For those looking for a comfortable and confidence-inspiring bike, the Atherton S.150 will be a true companion. But on the other end of the spectrum, the S.150 accommodates a much more aggressive riding style, with very healthy reactions even at high speed. A balanced, straightforward and pleasant bike, which we would have gladly taken for a few more laps."

S.200: Enduro Mag's 'Perfect Bike Park Rig'

Enduro Mag’s Peter Walker and Timo Walter test the S.200 at Dyfi “The Perfect Bike Park Rig”.

PW: When you hop onto the Atherton S.200, the bike delivers exactly what you’d expect from a bike-park specific downhill machine. Atherton prioritises a perfect fit, so within just a few metres, it feels intuitive and familiar, inspiring confidence from the get-go, particularly on fast, rough descents.

Rock gardens and braking bumps are effortlessly ironed out, but despite the plush set-up, it still offers plenty of pop off lips and ledges, making it easy to gap small obstacles or catch serious airtime over jumps. It handles hard landings well, absorbing impacts without harsh feedback to the rider. The S.200 is robust, simple and stripped down to the essentials… The Atherton S.200 rides every bit as tough and straight-forward on the trail as it looks at first glance, delivering on its promise to be the perfect Bike Park Rig.
